This is a site for launching hand-carried boats such as canoes or kayaks.

Description & Overview:

NOTE: On March 30, 2010 the Blue Pond Dam washed out in the big flood, so Blue Pond is smaller than it used to be and is surrounded by a broad, bare shoreline that is slowly becoming vegetated. At this time it seems likely that the dam will not be rebuilt and nature will be allowed to take its course and re-forest the shoreline.

To get to the smaller Blue Pond, hike the half mile trail from the parking area to the pond. The path is level most of the way to the pond but there is a short steep section as you approach the pond. The land is within Rockville Management Area and is completely surrounded by forest.

This site provides access to the following water bodies in the Pawcatuck River watershed: Blue Pond.

Location:

Town: Hopkinton

Nearest Town Center: Hope Valley

Driving Landmarks: From I-95 North get off at Exit 2 and turn left at the end of the ramp; or from I-95 South take Exit 2 and turn right at the end of the ramp. Go about 1/4 mile to the T-junction with Route 3 and turn left. Go 0.6 miles south on Route 3 and turn right onto Canonchet Road. Go 1.9 miles up Canonchet Road, past Ashville Pond, and look for a gravel parking area on the right labeled "Blue Pond."
