Most paddlers will want to launch on the west side of the breakwater into Point Judith Harbor of Refuge. The breakwater means this area is relatively sheltered from waves. Watch out for boat traffic and larger waves near the breaks in the breakwater, but otherwise this is a good area for less experience paddlers. Be especially careful near the entrance to Point Judith Pond, which is narrow and heavily used by larger boats.

You can also launch outside the breakwater but launching a small boat here is only recommended for the very experienced paddlers since you are launching right next to Point Judith into some of the most exposed waters along the Rhode Island coast short of Block Island. On most days the southwest wind fills in strongly in this area in the morning and blows briskly throughout the afternoon, producing strong waves, so be prepared for this when planning your trip.

Driving Landmarks: Take Route 108 (Point Judith Road) South to where it ends at Ocean Road. Turn right on Ocean Road and continue south for 0.6 miles. Bear left at the fork. 0.1 miles after the fork turn right into Camp Cronin Fishing Area. Park 0.2 miles from the entrance at the west end of the parking area for the shortest carry to the water.

Nice area to fish HOWEVER be prepared to lose some gear due to the rocks. You don't have to cast far but the rocks will keep you honest. Tight lines!
