Pleasant Street Municipal Boat Ramp

This is a site for launching boats from trailers. Boat ramps can normally be used to launch canoes and kayaks but please do your best to keep the boat ramp clear for boat trailers.
Description & Overview:
This gravel boat ramp, at the end of Pleasant Street, on the south side of Wickford Harbor, is sandwiched between two private businesses, Wickford Yacht Club and Pleasant Street Wharf. The ramp is in relatively poor condition. The only public parking is a few spaces of on-street parking. There is much more parking at the nearby Wilson Park boat ramp.
Wickford Harbor is a convoluted cove with many coves and islands to explore in a kayak or other small boat making it a great place for kayaking. The waters are sheltered but boat traffic should be expected. Outside the breakwaters, Wickford Harbor opens up to the broad waters of Narragansett Bay, with Quonset Point to the north; and Rome Point, Bissel Cove, Fox Island and the Jamestown Bridge to the south. On most days the southwest wind fills in strongly in this area in the morning and blows briskly throughout the afternoon, producing strong waves once you are outside of the harbor, so be prepared for this when planning your trip.
This site provides access to the following water bodies: Wickford Harbor.
Location:
Town: North Kingstown
Nearest Town Center: Wickford
Driving Landmarks: From Route 1 north or south head east on West Main Street. There is a traffic light at this turn off Route 1. After 1/2 mile on West Main Street make sure you stay straight to continue on Main Street rather than turning right with the main flow of traffic to continue through town. Go another 0.3 miles on Main Street, almost to the end of Main Street, and turn left onto Pleasant Street. The boat ramp is 0.3 miles ahead, at the end of Pleasant Street.
